The Saab 9-5 was introduced in Spring 1998 as an early 1999 model, replacing the Saab 9000. Production of the 9-5 sedan ended in 2011, and the wagon in 2009.

1999[]

Originally, the Saab 9-5 was only sold as a 4-door sedan. Later in the model year, a station wagon joined the sedan in the market.

All 4-cylinder 9-5s with 170 horsepower sold through 2000, and the 3.0-liter V6 engine with 200 horsepower was available on all 9-5s through the 2003 model year.
