Year-to-year changes[]

1991[]

In its next to last generation, the Porsche 928 was available as an S4. The car contained 316 horsepower, 5-speed manual transmission, and a 5.0-liter V8 engine. The S4 was carried over for 1992, when no models were produced.

1993[]

When the improved version of the 928 launched for its last generation, it became known as the Porsche 928 GTS. This car was upgraded to now have a 5.4-liter V8 engine and 345 horsepower, and remained like this permanently through 1995.
