The Oldsmobile Intrigue was a mid-size sedan that replaced the Cutlass Supreme in 1997. Major competitors included the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable, Chevrolet Malibu, Chrysler Concorde, Toyota Camry and Nissan Maxima.

New equipment included a 3.8-liter V6 engine with 195-hp, standard traction control, magnetic variable effort steering, battery rundown protection, an optional air filtration system, a remote keyless entry, a tire inflation monitor, and upgraded tires and brakes on the GL.
